Fireweed Seed Packet

Chamaenerion angustifolium

Fireweed is a vibrant native wildflower known for its tall spires of brilliant pink blooms that light up fields, forest edges, and open landscapes across Atlantic Canada. This hardy perennial is often one of the first plants to return after disturbance, quickly bringing colour and life back to the land.

Blooming through mid to late summer, Fireweed provides abundant nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Its flowers open gradually up the stem, creating a long-lasting display that supports pollinators for weeks.

Adaptable and easy to grow, Fireweed thrives in sunny locations with well-drained soil and spreads naturally to form beautiful colonies over time. It is an excellent choice for meadow plantings, naturalized gardens, and restoration landscapes.

Fireweed Fact: Fireweed earned its name because it is often one of the first plants to grow after forest fires, helping restore soil and habitat as ecosystems recover.

Our native seeds are locally foraged, gathered thoughtfully and in small quantities. We follow responsible seed-collection practices used in restoration and conservation work—collecting only from healthy, abundant populations, taking only a small portion of available seed, and leaving plenty behind for wildlife and natural regeneration.
